Weathervane Theatre Alumni Show on Aug. 12th

Alumni of the Weathervane Theatre return to Whitefield on Sunday, August 12, at 2 PM for a concert staging of the Broadway musical, It Shoulda Been You, directed by Diane DiCroce.

Religions collide, promises are broken, secrets are exposed and hope springs from the most unlikely of places….

Is it the latest conflict in the Middle East? No, it’s just the Steinberg wedding. The bride is Jewish. The groom is Catholic. Her mother is a force of nature. His mother is a tempest in a cocktail shaker. And, when the bride’s ex-boyfriend crashes the party, the perfect wedding starts to unravel faster than you can whistle “Here Comes the Bride!”  It’s up to the sister of the bride to turn a tangled mess into happily ever after in this musical comedy for anyone who ever had parents.

The charming, funny and new musical, It Shoulda Been You, with book and lyrics by Weathervane alumnus Brian Hargrove and concept and music by Barbara Anselmi had its Broadway run in 2015, directed by David Hyde Pierce with a cast led by Tyne Daly, Harriet Harris, Lisa Howard that included Weathervane Theatre alumnus, David Burtka from the 1994 season. Hargrove, also at the Weathervane for two summer seasons in 1976 and 1977, met Anselmi, during rehearsals for the 2005 alumni show – the two hit it off and subsequently became collaborators, developing the show from Barbara’s original concept.

Tickets are $25 and may be purchased at the Weathervane Theatre Box Office: 603/837-9322 or on-line at  Proceeds from the performance will benefit the Weathervane Theatre Alumni Association, Inc.
